I wrote these 4 lines a little over 20 years ago, just prior to me starting my spiritual work as a psychic and tarot card reader….
“Abstract eyes fabled by forest of thought
With shadows caught, and psyche fraught
A stage of mist and curtain of mire
Belie a captured canvas on hire”
At the time I thought it was just a moment of creative inspiration, depicting the far away state one falls into – where you get lost in a wonderful world of daydreaming. Much later, I realised that I was in fact practising moving into an altered state – between worlds. Nothing scary, nothing earth-shattering. Just calm and beautiful. It is similar to the dream process where one has 8 hours of lost time and yet awake in the blink of an eye. And it is something that most artists, writers and others of similar ilk, do. It becomes a safe place to I go t,o when I do a reading, or when I channel for my guides or loved ones who have passed over. Who would have thought that the many years spent day-dreaming as a teenager and young adult, actually prepared me, and honed my ability to slip relatively easily into ‘the zone’ when doing psychic work.
Of course, the down side is that I do tend toward being a tad absent-minded in my normal life as “Ordinary Jo (vs Psychic Jo) . We all have an occupational hazard of some sort – what can I say, its a gift! I However, in all fairness to, and deep appreciation of, those ordinary folk who do have to put up with my moments of forgetfulness, here are some wise words from an astute astrologer who drew up my natal chart many moons ago : “Those who are not outraged victims of her absent-mindedness, will put a benevolent arm around her in time of need.” Indeed.
